Kizzann Sammy is a senior strategic leader with more than 20 years in lifecycle management of complex projects with budgets ranging from CAD 5 – 31 million for public, private, and non-profit organizations. She has spent more than 10 years briefing and engaging with external and internal stakeholders in 17 countries to conduct research and policy analysis, support strategy and strategic planning, and monitor industry trends to inform and guide economic development. Her development approach involves assessments of policy and legislation against business needs, and collaboration with a wide network of stakeholders to achieve program goals. She is a strategic thinker with a background in local economic development, gender and land use, women’s empowerment, intersectional learning, youth programming and citizen security. Â
Kizzann has has research, project management and impact evaluation experience in Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Her current focus is on gender lens investing and examining the challenges faced by women and girls in developing nations.
Vejai Sammy is an IT professional with over 20 years’ experience in the areas of cybersecurity, IT governance, ICT4D, risk management and project management. He has worked extensively within the regional security sphere of CARICOM specializing in intelligence and border security systems. Internationally, he has worked with organizations such as the OAS/CICTE, INTERPOL, CSIS and SOCA/UK on initiatives aimed at building capacity in regional security operations.
He has a wealth of experience in IT governance, risk management, business analysis and understanding of the application of critical cybersecurity best practices and controls when leveraging technology to help businesses transform their operations. He is also trained as a digital forensics’ examiner having received extensive training in digital forensics, electronic search and seizure, ethical hacking and penetration testing and was a pioneer in the introduction of Visual Investigative Analysis for intelligence operations within the CARICOM where he served as a certified trainer for IBM Analytics. His current focus is on working with small and medium organizations on cybersecurity transformation and risk reduction.
A land information specialist with experience in business, systems, and data analysis pertaining to land mapping, Mr. Sanjinés has more than 19 years of experience in business analysis and project management. He has expertise in business process improvement, data analysis, and land administration procedures. For the last 13 years, he worked on technologies for land information with specialization in systems for land registration and cadastral management. Mr. Sanjinés has worked as a consultant in land administration and was commissioned to work as a project manager under the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, USAID, Millennium Challenge Corporation, non-profits and the private sector. Mr. Sanjinés has +15 countries and extensive regional experience in Africa, Asia, and Latin America and the Caribbean.
Yolande has worked in the security field since 1997, as a Research Analyst and Intelligence Officer/Desk Officer. She was the Research Administrator/Head, International Relations and Resource Mobilization under the CARICOM Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (CARICOM IMPACS), working with agencies such as the European Union (EU), UNODC, UNDP and other international and regional bodies.
Yolande shifted to the civil society side of security when she was appointed as Country Coordinator and subsequently Program Coordinator with the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF) as it implemented the Resistance and Prevention Program (RAPP), funded by the US State Department’s Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL). This program, which spanned 5 years, involved strengthening the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service’s community engagement approach, and contributed in large part to the TTPS winning the 2019 President’s Award for Public Service for their work with a hot spot community in Trinidad. Most of her recommendations on transforming community policing were also adopted by the TTPS in their Departmental Order for a new community oriented policing approach. She has a BA in History and Social Sciences, and a Masters Degree in International Relations from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine.
Veda Sammy is the owner of Veda Maria, LLC. She has been providing her clients with art direction and graphic design solutions for over fifteen years. Before freelancing full time she worked in an array of companies polishing her craft in multiple graphic design arenas from environmental and exhibit, to print and advertising, to web, mobile and interactive. She specializes in all aspects of strategic brand development, multi-channel user interface design, concept to press-ready print collateral and business development/promotional online and print advertising.
Herman Brown has significant experience in the field of migration and border security, and is the senior advisor for all projects related to migration, with specific focus on human smuggling and counter human trafficking prevention, monitoring and mitigation. A veteran immigration professional with the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Herman retired as Chief Immigration Officer, and later continued his work in border security enhancement through the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Implementation Agency for Crime and Security. In addition to his work within CARICOM, Herman has supported the creation of several policy frameworks for border management, working with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States among others.
